  Crisis Communication Skills Training
When an organization is forced to deal with a crisis, effective communication skills are suddenly placed under a microscope. The camera lens can be awfully unforgiving. Oftentimes, those who feel they are excellent communicators are surprised when they see themselves during interviews, press conferences or when simply reading statements to the press. Others are surprised by their word choice and messages when reading their quotes in a local newspaper or national trade publication. Effective communication skills are important but they become extremely vital when an organization is faced with a crisis. Properly designed training programs offer communications professionals the opportunity to hone communications skills and understand how they can be put to use during crisis communication situations. Our Crisis Communication Skills Training workshop provides participants with an in-depth one-day course on the skills required to project an effective, reliable and trustworthy image and message when dealing with the media during a crisis.

The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with the media is at the center of the Crisis Communication Skills Training. Our communications skills class focuses on three particular methods of communication. Each method plays an important role in the message you communicate when dealing with the media during a crisis. Our highly interactive, one-day workshop also provides participants with a self-analysis of personal communication skills. This analysis enables communications professionals to understand their personal strengths and weaknesses and how they can build chemistry and establish rapport with members of the media. Other communication skills such as the ability to overcome the fear associated with public speaking are covered. During this training workshop, participants practice by delivering various presentations that might be used in a crisis media situation. Time is also spent working on effective written communication. Each presentation is videotaped and followed by training instructor coaching and feedback. This format allows participants to review and evaluate progress and alter any behaviors that might affect their message. Communication training modules, individual exercises, question and answer sessions and crisis media activities are also covered.
