Crisis Media
Response Training (One Hour) |

When a crisis occurs,
members of the media can swoop down on an organization
before organizations have had a chance to craft a
response or initial statement regarding a situation. The
way an organization provides a response to the media can
go a long way towards shaping initial public reaction.
Poorly crafted responses can lead members of the media
to believe that information is being withheld and that a
crisis might be worse than anticipated. At the same
time, a well-written and factual response can appease
initial fears and strengthen an organization’s
reputation during a crisis. Not knowing the difference
between the right way and the wrong way to create a
crisis media response can spell doom for unprepared
organizations. Our Crisis Media Response Training
workshop is an information-packed one-hour training
seminar designed to teach the appropriate way to craft a
media statement or response during a crisis.
The Crisis Media Response Training class focuses on
valuable and easy-to-use skills and tools required by
those who must interact with the media during an initial
crisis response. This interactive training will empower
participants with key concepts and proven training
methodologies needed to quickly craft a response based
on facts and action. These crucial training skills can
be utilized by multiple parties, regardless of their
role in dealing with the media during a crisis. Even
when a crisis is the result of potential negligence,
human error or other fault on the part of an
organization, providing the appropriate response can go
a long way towards ensuring that an organization’s
reputation is not irreparably harmed. Discussions and
training overviews on handling presentations, press
conferences, media events and question and answer
session are utilized to provide crisis media
participants with crisis training skill learning
opportunities. Written exercises enable participants to
practice writing a response or a media statement that
might be used during a crisis. Group discussions and
feedback from a training instructor allow participants
to share experiences and crisis suggestions. Training
modules, application activities, written exercises and
other training activities are used to facilitate
learning in this crisis media training workshop.
