No one could have
ever anticipated a terrorist attack on the level that
our country experienced on September 11th of 2001. While
terrorist attacks had happened overseas, our country had
little experience with such a crisis. That morning,
media outlets and local and federal officials struggled
to deal with a terrible crisis, one that happened so
quickly and so violently that many were unsure how to
cope with the situation. Airline officials found
themselves trying to answer media questions as many were
initially unsure if the crashes that took place were due
to human error or a terrorist attack. Local and federal
government officials scrambled to understand the
situation so that the public could be informed
accurately without exacerbating the crisis. During this
time, the international media descended on New York and
Washington D.C. to cover the news as audiences worldwide
waited with disbelief and heavy hearts. While one hopes
that an attack will never happen again, the sad reality
is that another terrorist attack may eventually reach
our shores. Our Terrorist Crisis Media Training workshop
is a comprehensive two-day training program designed to
provide participants with the tools and crisis media
skills required to manage any interaction with the media
during a crisis.
The Terrorist Crisis Media Training workshop focuses
on the particular sensitivities and delicate issues that
are part of media coverage during a terrorist crisis.
This two-day training class equips professionals
involved with handling media relations with the proper
approaches and training concepts required to deal with
an extreme crisis. Government officials, local community
spokesmen, law enforcement personnel, fire department
officials, company spokesmen and other involved parties
will benefit from training tools and time-tested
methodologies taught in this crisis media workshop.
These essential training skills can also be utilized
during times when follow-up press conferences and media
statements long after the initial crisis need to be
delivered to provide regular updates to the media.
Simulated press conferences, pressure-filled situations,
presentations, Q&A sessions and other role plays are
utilized to put new skills to use and provide
participants with terrorist crisis media skill practice.
Videotaped feedback sessions provide one-on-one coaching
from a training instructor. Training modules,
application exercises, group discussions and other
training activities reinforce the learning process in
this terrorist crisis media workshop.
